A friend dragged me along to see an artist I've never heard of before - Richard Long. Conceptual art is not something I'm very familiar with, being more traditional and all that... but it was good to open my mind and try to see things in a different way. Most of the art pieces were his walks, with photographs and descriptions to show where he had walked, which was almost all over southern England as well as many other countries. My favourites were the sculptures of rocks from different parts of the world arranged in round, spherical and rectangular formations. For me, they brought the landscape and nature indoors. Here's an example:

His mud paintings directly onto the gallery walls also fascinated me. I Ching lines painted by hand including all the drips and splashes. A larger painting further round the display was even more striking as I guess it 'looked like something'.... with a horizon. It was fresh, spontaneous and again brought inside a part of the landscape which we otherwise couldn't experience.
